ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient healing art originating in China centuries ago and became popular in the U.S in the early 1970"s.
How Does Acupuncture Work?Acupuncture is a method of treating the body to promote and encourage natural healing and to improve the functions of the body. Treatment is done by inserting needles and other forms of stimulation at specific and precise acupuncture points on the body. The traditional Chinese explanation is that energy channesl exist in regular patterns in the body, known as meridians. Acupuncture uses points on the meridians, which have reflex action to return the flow of energy to normal within the meridians and allow the body to restore health. This helps organs to return to normal function by correcting imbalances in the meridians. A modern explanation is that the needling of the meridians stimulates the nerves causing a reaction in the muscles, nerves, spinal cord and brain. These reactions involve the release of chemicals which influence the body's own internal regulating systems.
